Spider-Man Joins Civil War (#40)

This news is a few days old now, but Marvel has confirmed that the star of the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe Spider-Man film, Tom Holland, will be portraying the web-spinner in the widely anticipated third Captain America movie, Captain America: Civil War. The movie will be the first film in the third phase of the MCU, and will be releasing on May 6th 2016 (ten days earlier than its original May 16th release date).

It is unknown how Spidey's role will play out in Civil War, but perhaps in his first MCU appearance he will end up revealing his secret identity as Peter Parker to the world. After all, Marvel have said that they're finished with MCU origin stories so Spider-Man will already have his powers in the movie. In the Civil War comic storyline, one of the biggest moments was when he told everybody his identity on live television. This event lead to many famous (and infamous for many) storylines such as Back In Black, One More Day and Brand New Day. Peter's unmasking basically changed his comic books a lot.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing Spidey in Civil War as he's one of my favourite Marvel heroes and always has been. He was probably the first comic book superhero I ever got into.

Update after posting; I just realized, today's the first day in July. Happy second month of Summer, everyone!

Thomas
