Nintendo Goes To Hollywood (#198)

In an unexpected but very exciting twist of news, Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima has discussed how the company would have interest in actually making movies in the future, based off of their various popular game series. The major Nintendo movie that everybody probably remembers is 1993's attempt to take Super Mario Bros into the world of cinema, which, quite frankly, failed horribly. I've never watched that film but I just don't know what they were thinking. However, it's looking like Nintendo could bring some good content to the big screen in the following years, as Kimishima has said that they would most likely make animated films instead of live action. He also said that the films would be made with more direct input from Nintendo themselves instead of leaving it to other creators. So that's a relief...

This is an actual screenshot from that Mario movie. I'm pretty
sure those two guys at the back are supposed to be koopas.
Seriously, why does this exist?

Which Nintendo franchise would you most love to see as a film? I think Zelda and Metroid would work well, although I would love a proper attempt at Mario.
