No Nunchuck, No Okami... (#115)

So, the Japanese style game I was talking about yesterday is a game called Okami that originally came out for the Playstation 2 and was adapted for the Wii later. I'd heard quite a lot of praise for the game, and decided to check it out. I bought the game and it arrived yesterday. I don't know anything about it, except that the game features a wolf called the Amaterasu as its main character, and has a little green bug thing called Nippon (correction: he's called Issun, I got it confused with Nippon which is the name of a place in the game) that serves as comic relief. To be honest the only reason I even know that is because that stuff is established within the first twenty or so minutes or the game.

I really, really want to play this right
now.

So, you may be wondering, how come I only know that much if I got the game yesterday? Well, it's my nunchuck's fault (the thing that comes with the Wii, not an actual nunchuck, lol). As soon as the gameplay began, it felt like something was wrong, and turns out that the joystick on my nunchuck is kind of loose. It's not loose in a way that seems like it might fall out or anything. But the joystick doesn't stay in the middle, and it seems to move around by itself too easily. I might have talked about this a mite before (am I Australian now?), but in March I had to buy a new nunchuck, because my old one (which I still have by the way) wasn't working any more. The stick stayed in the middle properly and it wasn't loose or anything, but in all the games that I used it for the thing I was controlling just wouldn't move and it kept saying that the nunchuck had been disconnected.

So I got a new one and until now that one has worked fine. But recently (I can't remember if it was like this before but I doubt it), like I said the joystick seems loose on this second nunchuck. Well, technically it's probably my third or fourth since I've lost a couple of these things before. But basically, in Okami (or at least in the tiny bit I got to play), the more you tilt the stick the faster you move. So, tilt a little, you walk, tilt a lot, you run. But since the joystick's 'neutral position' (I don't know much about this so I'm probably speaking nonsense) isn't right in the middle and it just falls in the direction you hold the nunchuck (hopefully you understand what I'm saying), it's really awkward. No matter how much I tilt it up, the Amaterasu (the wolf I'm controlling) won't move up at all. If I push REALLY hard, I can just get him to walk, but it's unbearable to play a game where you can only walk slowly, especially since it's a lot like Zelda. I've also started to notice this fault in other games like Pikmin 1, 2 and 3, where it's getting really stressful when I need to go up but can't because no matter how much I push the stick it just refuses. I wouldn't mind as much in Pikmin if there wasn't a time limit, but it just wastes a lot of time.

Never thought I'd be so desperate for
one of these.

Anyway, I have ordered a new nunchuck, and luckily I got one on eBay for like £3 with nothing to pay for delivery. I definitely would not use Amazon in this situation since they charge like £21 for a nunchuck plus delivery price. Yes, seriously. I do prefer them over eBay but they seem to overprice controllers. Like when I got my Gamecube controllers last September to play Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door for the first time, I got two for £10 on eBay compared to one for twenty pounds on Amazon. No joke.

Anyway, the nunchuck is expected to come tomorrow, so hopefully nothing will go wrong and I'll be able to play Okami.

...I shouldn't have said that. Now something is sure to go very, very wrong.

Replaying Pikmin 3... For Like The Third Time (#114)

In the past couple days, I've been playing quite a large variety of video games. About a week ago (don't even make that joke I swear to god) I started replaying Xenoblade Chronicles which I've stopped playing for a while. It's not that I got bored of it or anything, yesterday I accidently pressed the power off button on my Wii U console without meaning to and I hadn't saved for a while after doing a ton of side quests. So that put me off it a little bit, even if it was due to my own stupidity. I'd also been playing Fire Emblem Awakening quite a bit until about a week ago (honestly, I swear. Don't do it) and after getting up to about Chapter 8, I just stopped for a while. Like Xenoblade, I will definitely play it again in a few weeks or even months and pick up from where I left up. I just feel like if I force myself to play those two games when I really don't feel like it I'm just gonna hate it. Oh, and I also played a little of Kid Icarus: Uprising, which is an absolutely great 3DS game by the way, I would say it's one of my favourites if not my favourite 3DS game.

Anyway, due to my favourite Let's Player (and one of my favourite YouTubers in general really) doing a series of it starting a few days ago, I decided to start playing through Pikmin 3 again which I got around last November/December. I've tried playing through it a couple times now but since I have fairly major OCD when it comes to video games I always quit when any Pikmin die or I just have a bad day in general (a day in Pikmin 3 that is, not in real life... that'd be a 'lil dumb) which is, to be frank, most of the time, because I'm bad at real time strategy games it would seem. But yeah, I did start playing it again, and so far I have my exact Pikmin count the same as the guy who's let's playing it. Obviously, this did take a couple of attempts, and I may have rage quitted yesterday morning after failing. Though in my defence, I was under pressure about the fact that if I didn't stop playing soon I could miss the school bus.

Those may look like enormous fruits, but the Pikmin are tiny
so they're actually average size.

I also got the first Thor movie on Blu Ray today. Finally! I've had a Blu Ray since like the 2nd or 3rd of last September and still didn't get this until now despite having all the other MCU films on BR for ages. I got Age of Ultron about two weeks ago if I didn't mention that.

Sorry but I gotta say it....
Hammer time.
Expect a post about a cool Japanese-style game (and a pretty popular one at that) that I got today coming later or tomorrow (probably tomorrow let's be honest), and also a post about the let's player I mentioned in this post.

New Jessica Jones Trailer: Good Morning (#113)

A new trailer has been released for Marvel's Jessica Jones. It's short like the first trailer, but this time features a short scene in which Krysten Ritter's sleeping character, who it would seem loves to pull all nighters (totally not me, heh...) is awoken by her alarm clock, which she proceeds to, well, destroy. Without mercy. So she's basically just like every other young person in the world who hates the feeling of being woken up by annoying cheery music. Nice to see she's already a really relatable character. Anyway, catch the trailer here.

We all know this feeling.

Remember guys, the show debuts on November 20th, and if you're one of those people that likes to stay up all night to wait for the show, you'll be excited to hear that the show's 13 episodes will be up at exactly 00:01 in the morning, so they'll be up right as the 19th becomes the 20th. Cool. I am not one of those people however, and I'd rather wait until the next day because I'll enjoy the episodes a lot more. Or the enxt night, I seem to enjoy watching that kind of thing at night around nine o'clock.

Blog Buddy hasn't watched Daredevil yet. Or Ant-man. Naughty boy.

Also, fun fact about the alarm clock thing: about a year ago, I got this Mario Clock app on my 3DS for like less than £2, and it was really cool. There were three alarms to choose from: the overworld theme, underwater theme and starman theme from the original Super Mario Bros. However, I got used to those being my wake up call, so now, even though I don't use those anymore, I always get really alert and kind of shocked when I hear any of those three because my brain associates them with waking up, doing something on time and going to school. So the Mario Clock app ruined those theme tunes for me. xD

AAAHHH WHAT'S GOING ON AM I LATE
FOR SCHOO-- oh, it's just the next level.
Lol.

My Music Playlist + A Ton of Random Stuff (#112)

This is much more a post about me and my life, so if you don't want to read this then just check out another post because you might not be interested in this. I understand I've been doing a lot of these lately and I'm going to try not to after this and focus more on actual games and movies. Thanks for hopefully being patient. :)

Ever since I got my iPhone a few months ago, I've been using to live out my three year long dream of listening to music at school or on the school bus. Music is a big part of my life, though I don't listen to the same type of music that most people (at least most people my age) listen to. Most of the music I listen to is from video games and movies (doesn't really take a genius to figure that out) and after thinking about it for a while I've decided that I'm going to do a list of all the songs on my music playlist in order as of today (I add more very often). I have 81 songs, though that really isn't a lot when you consider the fact that Blog Buddy (see last post) has 365 songs. That's a song for every day of the year! Plus he doesn't listen to any video game OST and instead listens to mostly pop music (not a big fan personally) with some film OST mixed in. For the list I'll include the artist/video game or movie it's from next to the song. Without further ado...

Onett Theme - Earthbound

Something cool about my music playlist is that as it progresses you can see how my main interests have changed from one thing to another in the past couple months. For example, a lot of the songs near the beginning are from Star Wars because when I first got the phone and started downloading music, I had just finished watching Star Wars for the first time (I'm very late, I know). And the recent ones are all Ace Attorney and Xenoblade (the Earthbound ones are just random, I haven't played that lately).

Anyway, I stopped procrastinating and did my English homework. Like I said, I kind of ripped off Portal a little bit. The main character was called Nick Feyworth as I planned and the other character (who I barely talked about in the narrative, oops) was called Maya Fiora. That's based off Ace Attorney and Xenoblade, because I am crap at making OCs (original characters). Or naming them at least. Those two are the last surviving people at the place where it's set. Yeah the plot was about how Nick got tricked by an email from Aldman Laboratories to go on some special visit there and was basically kidnapped and forced to test. Ring a bell? (More like ring a Chell HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAH sorry.) But yeah, the guy who owns the company, Harry Aldman, was killed by an AI they developed called AIPSAS (who sent the trick email), which stands for Artificial Intelligence Problem Solving Algorithm System. Weird acronym, I know. But yes, I dearly hope my English teacher hasn't played Portal! ...She is an enormous Harry Potter fan though, which I approve of.

Here's a picture of GLaD-- I mean, AIPSAS.
But yes, glad to have gotten that finished. Playing video games sucks a little when you have a guilty conscience nagging you to do your homework. :/

If Xenoblade could talk to me, this is what it would say.
Yeah, I haven't really mentioned it here before but I'm a giant lover of Spongebob Squarepants and have been since I was like 6. In fact, I've been rewatching the show lately (I have the first six seasons on DVD and, yes, I agree that the older episodes are the best and most hilarious). Some other things that I'm actually a big fan of but never talk about here are the Simpsons and Diary of a Wimpy Kid (mostly because it's pretty funny and very relatable for me). Oh, and a great game series I just remembered that I'll probably talk about in the future but completely forgot about until yesterday: the Mother/Earthbound series. Though I did make that one post about Earthbound: Zero's announcement.

Oh, and speaking of Chronicles, I just finished the Ether Mine, and holy crud I absolutely love the series of cutscenes after you fight Xord. You get that one with Xord (his voice doesn't annoy me but his quotes in battle hurt my ears because of the weird sound quality) and the part where you think Otharon will die. Then you have his return from the Ether River where you have to fight him again. Then finally you have Metal Face just fly up from behind in that cutscene after the Mine blows up and then HOLY MONADO IT'S DICKSON AND DUNBAN.

Dundun!

Here ends this oddly long and jumbled post.

Jake Jalapeno's Alfredo Adventures + Xenoblade Procrastination (#111)

Don't really have much to say today, I still have a ton of post ideas but instead of using them all at once I'd rather save them for the next month or two so I'll always have something to talk about instead of going ages without posts because I can't think of anything. So I've continued playing Xenoblade Chronicles (I'm in Gaur Plain on Bionis Leg right now, and am doing some sidequests before heading to Colony 6... oh God, that wonderful music) and am procrastinating a lot.

Honestly, I have too much homework right now. Luckily, I've done most of it (a Maths sheet on paper and questions online, revision for the whole of what we've learned in Triple Science so far this month (why did I choose that subject... damn you, Haber Process!), revision of the past tense in French, ten sentences in French, notes and an exam question in History, and even form homework (although it's only two sentences and my form tutor never really asks for it) but I still have to revise the whole of what we've learned in RE so far and have to do yet another story opening in English, this time an 'exciting' first person narrative or something. Eesh. Actually, I'm thinking of basically ripping off Portal and Ace Attorney, hah. The main character I'm going to use is going to be called Nick Feyworth (three attorney's badges if you can figure out which three AA characters that's a mesh of) and the plot is that he's a test subject at some laboratory place. Chell yeah!

Something I find hilarious is that my friend, the guy who made that blog I talked about in post #100 (I don't know if he'd want me to use his real name so I'll just call him Blog Buddy, at least for now) is going to name his character Jake Jalapeno. Like the pepper. That's just amazing. xD

Blog Buddy later went on to become the famous
author of Jake Jalapeno and the Spicy Rivalry,
which was later surpassed in sales by Jake
Jalapeno and the Chilli Reception. Look out
for Book 3 in the Jake Jalapeno's Alfredo
Adventures series, coming on 12/11/15.

Ay ay ay! Xenoblade Chronicles y chiles jalapeƱos en la misma conversaciĆ³n ? (Bonus points if you speak Spanish... or use Google Translate like me.)

Um... I guess in other news this is the first post to have three matching digits. That's cool I guess?

Fun fact: Until now, I was also procrastinating on making a blog update. I'm such a reliable poster.

...Wait, I'm a poster? Well, stick me on the wall!

...What? Okay, bye. This post has just downgraded into madness. How do I write a coherent sentence again?

Jessica Jones Trailer + Release Date! (#110)

So, as usual, this is fairly old news even though I just found out about it. But there was a trailer for the upcoming Jessica Jones Marvel Netflix show about a week and a half ago. If you want to watch it, you can find it here. It doesn't really show much of the show (or anything at all to be honest), it's more of a teaser, but the artwork is still cool. In fact, I think the video and music shown in the trailer might be the opening credits scene for the show. Or not, I don't know. Anyway, the best thing about the trailer is that we got a release date for Jessica Jones at the end: November 20th 2015. So, less than four months to go until we get the second Marvel Cinematic Universe Netflix show, awesome! I don't know anything at all about Jessica Jones except that she swears a lot and her comics are a lot more adult themed than others. I think. So yes, hopefully this should be as good as Daredevil, if not even better.

Krysten Ritter, who will be playing the titular character.

List of Wonderful 101 Weapons (#109)

Following up with the Wonderful 101 hype that's been surrounding me lately (which has reintroduced me to the corniest yet most epic song ever), and my return to lists with the list of Layton VS Wright Magic Spells, here's that list of all the different weapons in The Wonderful 101 for Wii U. Each weapon will have the name of the user next to it, along with any real names of the user in brackets if they have one. For example, Wonder Red's real name is Will Wedgewood. I will also include the shape you draw to activate the weapon. Really don't need to say much else, so let's just jump right into it.

List of Wonderful 101 Weapons

1) Unite Hand
User: Wonder Red (Will Wedgewood)
Shape: Circle

2) Unite Sword
User: Wonder Blue (Elliot Hooker)
Shape: Straight line

10/10 best weapon, let's be honest.

3) Unite Gun
User: Wonder Green (Jean-SĆ©bastien Renault)
Shape: Straight line then another right-angled straight line (like the letter L)

Woah. Straight to the point.

4) Unite Whip
User: Wonder Pink (Mariana Kretzulesco)
Shape: Curved line (like the letter S)

5) Unite Hammer
User: Wonder Yellow (Ivan Istochnikov)
Shape: Straight line then circle

It's like a rocket.

6) Unite Claws
User: Wonder White (Momoe Byakkoin)
Shape: The letter Z

Not only do those claws allow White to get all Wolverine
up in this G.E.A.T.H.J.E.R.K., but they even shoot ice.

7) Unite Bomb
User: Wonder Black (Krishna Ramanujan)
Shape: Circle then straight line

Like the claws, the bomb also has an extra feature. It slows down
time in the radius of where it lands, which is needed to get past
certain fast moving objects like spikes.

8) Unite Drill
User: Wonder Red Emeritus (Laurence Nelson)
Shape: Spiral

I completely forgot about this one! I was going to leave it out
but TW101 Wiki reminded me of it. Sorry for the blurry
quality, it's the best I could get. These pictures are scarce.

Here's a slightly better (if smaller) one.

9) Unite Bowgun
User: Immorta
Shape: Heart

Couldn't really find any pictures of the bowgun
in action, sorry. But hey. it's still a good picture.

9) Unify Naginata
User: Chewgi
Shape: Straight line with a pause in the middle

10) Unify Boomerang
User: Prince Vorkken
Shape: The letter V

It's not that amazing in battle and you only get it at the end of
the game. But the fact that you get to ride a giant boomerang
through giant blue lasers in space makes up for it.
11) Unite Goggles
User: Wonder Goggles (Luka Alan Smithee)
Shape: Figure 8 (like an infinity sign)

His goggles are basically like Cyclop's visor from the X-Men
except that they're FRICKIN' ENORMOUS.
After once again completing the Wonderful 101, I have decided to replay Xenoblade Chronicles, and so far just got part the part where Fiora gets stabbed by Metal Face. Also, no apologies if I just spoiled a major part of the beginning of the game, because the blog description does have a spoiler warning. And yes, I know that she's not actually dead. I got the game in January this year, and since it's so incredibly massive, it took until about March or April to complete (I did it mostly 100%). Actually, now that I remember, I never did actually complete it, I got stuck on the final boss since I think I was a little underlevelled, but in this playthrough I understand the game more and I'm going to make sure I'm at a good level so I'll probably be able to beat it properly. I have seen the ending to the game though. I'm not playing it as often as I did on my first playthrough, so if I do get to the end (again, 100%) it could take me about six months or so considering I'm only playing it an hour or so a day compared to the six to seven hours a day I played it then. Seriously, year 10 is so, so, so mindlessly and horribly boring, and it feels like all my time is wasted and I never get to enjoy myself. Even though I do have quite a lot of time. Sigh.

"I'm really failing it!" -- Me on my Triple Science
GCSE exam.

Writing this post taught me how the names of TW101 members are impossible to spell without a wiki. Look me in the eye and tell me you could easily remember how to spell the names Mariana Kretzulesco, Ivan Istochnikov and Krishna Ramanujan with your memory alone.

I Need A PS4 For KH3 (#108)

After watching the E3 trailer for Kingdom Hearts 3 (one of my classmates has been telling me I should watch it for about half a year and it took me this long despite the fact that it came out ages and ages ago) I am feeling very sad about the fact that the game is only available for Playstation 4 and Xbox One. The Wii U is great, but it really sucks when we don't get awesome games like this for Nintendo systems because they probably won't sell as well as on PS4 and Xbone.

If I did ever get a PS4, I would like to also get Sonic Generations (I have the 3DS version but it's way worse IMO), Kingdom Hearts 1.5 and Kingdom Hearts 2.5. I have KH1 and 2 for PS2 but admittedly I've only ever gotten about halfway (if that) through the first one and barely past even the starting world, Twilight Town, in the second one. I always end up picking it up and starting from the beginning, and I probably will do again in the not-so-far future. Maybe one day I'll complete them. One day.

I'm not completely against the idea of getting a PS4, but I just don't know if it will be completely worth it, since it's quite a lot of money to pay for a system on which I only want a couple games. It's certainly not a terrible idea, though. Maybe sometime it will happen.

Anyway, following up from post #101, I did play The Wonderful 101 again, starting on Sunday night. And I finished it yesterday in less than a week (the main story, that is. I don't really plan to ever 100% that game as that's hard and tedious) and man, I truly do remember how great it is. I would definitely go as far as to say that it's one of my favourite games ever, without a doubt.

The way that Red struggles to lift the hand in this cutscene
represents my life. Red is me and the hand is my responsibilities.

Ace Attorney 6 Japanese Trailer + ANIME! (#107)

OH MY GOD! Oh my God, yes. Today at the Tokyo Game Show (I completely forgot about that thing) there was a presentation on the upcoming and highly anticipated Ace Attorney 6, we learned a ton of stuff about the game, along with an announcement about another big thing, which I'll be talking about really soon. First of all, we got an AA6 trailer! It's in Japanese, but, thanks to the beautiful fanbase, we got an English-edited trailer. Click here for the Japanese trailer, or here for the English Edited trailer, which is a much, much better choice for most of you reading this. Kudos to Calios on YouTube for editing this. :)

We can learn a lot from the video, including the fact that the 'mysterious country' that Phoenix visits in AA6 is called 'The Kingdom of Kurain', (which will of course be associated with Kurain Village from Turnabout Trial 1-3 (not 1-3 as in case 3 in game 1 but as in games 1, 2 and 3) which is where Maya is supposedly at right now in the chronology! PLEASE GIVE US SOME MAYA! Even if it's just a side character. I'd even settle for some other spirit medium characters) where, as we already know, people are very superstitious and believe strongly in the spirits of the dead. Rightly so, it would seem, as you can apparently cross examine the actual dead victims themselves in court! Jeez, I know Nick's been in some pretty hopeless situations before, but it's beyond me how he's going to win a trial where the person who got killed is testifying that the defendant killed them?! This will be crazy, but it seems that even the victims will lie in the trials. And check how funky the judge looks! He even has a Magatama.

Some other stuff we've seen from the game is a new prosecutor who looks like Winston Payne (an inevitable yet beloved trait of each game) who I'm assuming will be the prosecutor for 6-1, as well as the Princess of Kurain, Leifa, a spirit medium who in court conjures up the final memories of the dead (i.e. the victim) as evidence (in a process called 'spirit vision'). This clearly showed the defendant, Bokuto, at the scene which seemingly proves his guilty. However, as always, there are contradictions to be found. And finding them is what I shall be doing when this thing gets here in 2016. Oh, and there are no defence attorneys in Kurain, which makes for another awesome 'Phoenix suddenly enters the court' moments when he declares that he objects to the lack of defence and the premature verdict.

Despite early beliefs, this is not Maya, but the new Leifa. I'm
thinking we might see Maya though, as Kurain Village
is where she resides and this is the Kingdom of Kurain.
A fan can hope.
As well as this hurricane of AA6 news, Capcom went and announced an ACE ATTORNEY ANIME, AIRING IN APRIL 2016! Yes, it's what all the fans have been waiting for, and, however unlikely it might be, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it'll be localised and not just a Japan-only thing. Please, please, please, Capcom, have mercy on our English-speaking souls. The anime will feature Phoenix Wright and Miles Edgeworth, along with Maya Fey, who hasn't been seen in any (non-crossover) games in the series since Trials and Tribulations.

YESYESYESYESYESYESMYFROND.
Oh. My. Freakin'. God. I just cannot get over this. I swear, this anime better be localised, and Ace Attorney 6 better not come out over here months and months and months after it comes out in Japan. If it does, I'm learning Japanese. I don't even care.

Update: Turns out that the Winston Payne-looking prosecutor is actually his brother, Gaspen, from Dual Destinies. Nice, it'll be cool to see his character explored more and find out why he's in Kurain. He even seems to be wearing gold clothes and a crown!

Kneel, peasants.

Layton VS. Wright: List of Magic Spells (#106)

Alright, so here's that list of magic spells I promised, from Professor Layton VS Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney. These spells aren't things you can actually cast in the game (that would be so cool) but the spells found in the Talea Magica book that can be presented in court trials. I shouldn't really have to explain this much, so scroll down below to see the list. There are seven altogether. Since one or two of them are pretty blurry, I'll just write what the description says in the caption for each one.

List of Magic Spells in Layton VS Wright

1) Ignaize

[Inferno Spell]: Summons a circle of flame within a 1 metre

Nintendo's Fifth President: Tatsumi Kimishima (#105)

Nintendo have announced that Tatsumi Kimishima, 65, has been promoted to the Japanese video game organisation's company fifth and most recent president. Nintendo's last and fourth president, Satoru Iwata, unfortunately passed away two months ago. Shigeru Miyamoto, the creator of Mario, Zelda and Pikmin, and Genyo Takeda, one of the creators of the Wii, were each expected to be chosen as the next president, but Kimishima, who was CFO of the Pokemon Company in 2000 and Nintendo of America's president from 2002-2006, was given the position instead.

Nintendo will be making a lot of changes in the next couple years, from the release of the details-scarce NX console, to the mobile games that Nintendo are experimenting with, such as Pokemon Go which looks pretty cool.

Hedgehog Reviews (#104)

I think it's time I introduced you guys to my last blog, Hedgehog Reviews. As I've said before (you really should be able to tell from the title anyway), it's a blog I used to make reviews of video games. I had planned to do reviews of movies, comic books and TV shows too, but I never really got around to it. It's the second blog I've created, this being my third, and probably much, much more similar to this one than my first one. Don't ever expect a link to my first blog though; it's from around March 2013, and apart from a review of Wreck-it-Ralph I wrote on it, it's all angsty emo stuff. Back when I was (more) cringeworthy. Now I'm more... Edgeworthy. Hardy har har.

*swoons*
By the way, if you think I don't post enough on this blog, that blog was only updated once a month (apart from a couple very short 'mini-posts'). Granted, those monthly updates were fairly long reviews... but still. Once. A. Month. The blog ran from February-July 2014.

Anyway, I'm much more proud of the blog than my first one, and it's a shame that I abandoned it, but if quitting it meant I could make this instead, I have few regrets. Without further ado, click here to see my second blog, Hedgehog Reviews.

Dai Gyakuten Saiban 2? "Ryuunosuke's Next Adventure" (#103)

Although this news is a little old and was released around one to two weeks ago, I thought I should mention this since when the news was first announced I was doing Top Ten Turnabouts and, again, I didn't want to talk about irrelevant stuff.

In the final and most recent DLC pack for the not long ago released Japanese game Dai Gyakuten Saiban, there was a message along with a little doodle from director Shu Takumi. The first message can be seen below in the picture, along with a translation in the caption.

"London, at the turn of the 20th century...
I hope you enjoyed your great turnabout voyage.
The team is looking forward to the day we can meet you again in
Ryuunosuke's next adventure."
The next pictrue shows the cool little doodle included with the message of the game's main protagonists, Ryuunosuke and Sherlock Holmes.

It now seems fairly likely that there will be a Dai Gyakuten Saiban 2, as hinted by the existence of 'Ryuunosuke's next adventure." I have no arguments with a DGS2, but since, the first one wasn't localized, there's a very unlikely to impossible chance that they'll localise the sequel. Still, a fan can hope.

Thanks to the forums at court-records.net for this information.

Mario Maker, Double Dash and Fire Emblem Awakening (#102)

Wondering what those three games I got this week are? Well, not anymore, if you know how to read a title! Yes, I really love giving all the answers away, don't I. Yeah, so I got Super Mario Maker for Wii U, Mario Kart: Double Dash for the Gamecube and Fire Emblem Awakening for the 3DS this week.

On Monday, I got Double Dash (it's the fourth Mario Kart game) from my friend at school who had the game from when he was younger and never played it anymore. I was originally going to give him £10 for the game, but had to offer him £5 after I went and LOST A £10 NOTE. Wow. Just wow. While I was waiting for the school bus, I checked for my money, and it was there. But when I got on the bus where my friend was waiting and I reached for the £10, it had just disappeared. I bet I dropped it knowing how dumb I am when it comes to responsibility. Or maybe some kind of lowlife pickpocket stole it. If you're reading this and you did, I HATE YOU.

But yes, Double Dash is very fun. I played two 50cc cups on it the other night while listening to my music playlist.

On Tuesday, I ordered Fire Emblem: Awakening after pondering getting it for about half a year. I couldn't play it soon as I got it on Wednesday because, although I finished Professor Layton VS Ace Attorney, I still had to play the twelve or so special episodes in the game, so I didn't start the game until Thursday morning. Which was a mistake since I was half asleep and could barely see two feet in front of me. Speaking of the Layton V Wright aftergame stuff though, I love how when you complete the main game you get a load of cool stuff like in all the Professor Layton games, namely all the cutscenes, music, special episodes and lots of nice artwork from the game creators.

Finally, yesterday, I got Super Mario Maker. I haven't done a ton on it so far but it's really good and fun to play. I haven't unlocked all of the possible level design tools and items yet (in fact I've not even unlocked all of row two, and there's about six rows), and I only have the Super Mario Bros and New Super Mario Bros U art styles unlocked, but so far I've made three levels which are fairly alright and a little hard. In fact, I went to my friend Kurt's house today and we played through Investigation Day 2 of Rise From The Ashes (from Phoenix Wright). We also played a little of Mario Maker and beat my three levels, but he struggled a lot with the first one and I had to do the third one for him. Scrub. I look forward to unlocking the Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World styles. I'd love to see a Super Mario Bros 2 (USA) design though. Maybe a future DLC pack? The game even comes with a neat little picture book with tons of pictures of crazy Mario levels, many of which I'm sure can be recreated in the game.

The Wonderful Post 101 (#101)

The game I'm about to talk about in this post is actually a pretty amazing game that I don't think I've ever mentioned, even in my introduction when I talked about all the games I liked (which was exactly 100 posts ago, wow). I might have, but I'm pretty sure it just slipped my mind. But anyway, since this is post 101, I think this would be a very fitting time to have a little talk about one of my favourite Wii U games, The Wonderful 101.

When Mario Kart 8 came out last year on 30th May 2014 (still can't believe it's been like one and a half years already), you could actually get another free Wii U game with it if you bought the game within a certain amount of time after it came out (think it was about two months). Well, okay, you had to choose out of ten games, but from what I remember they were all pretty good games, or at least alright. I know that one of them was Pikmin 3, but I didn't get that because I wasn't really interested in Pikmin and I hadn't played either of the first two (I became interested in that around October to November last year after my friend showed me the Pikmin 3 demo. But I accidentally ruined it for him because I kept talking about how good it was nonstop. Oops).

Aww, so cute and innocent right? No. They're evil and
bloodthirsty and kill anything that moves.
Anyway, one of the other games was called The Wonderful 101, which my online friend Kane said I should get. So I did. And it was a great game. In some ways, it was a little like Pikmin in that you have to control a lot of people at once, but a lot less stressful and a lot cooler and more action packed. You play as this group of secret superheroes called the Wonderful 100 (officially pronounced one-double-oh, not one hundred) who have to defeat alien invaders called G.E.A.T.H.J.E.R.K. who are led by their leader (duh) Jergingha, who, get this, is a planet. Yes, the main villain is a planet. Holy crap, trust me, this game has amazing amounts of fighting in massive ways that often seems ridiculously overpowered, but I don't care, because it stays amazing the whole way through. The main members of the Wonderful 100 that you play as (I forget the exact number, there's around seven but some other people join your team so there are about eleven or twelve main characters you get to play as altogether I think) have their own very unique weapon that they use to fight.

That sword is just... woah.
The way you switch between characters is simple and fun. You just use the right control stick on the gamepad (or draw with your stylus, but I much prefer the control stick) the shape of the weapon you want to use, and you will automatically change to the character with that weapon. For example, with the main character, Wonder-Red, his power is the Wonder Hand, which is red and can turn wheels to open doors and such. Simply draw a circle shape with your stylus or right control stick to switch to him and activate his power. Another awesome part is that the weapon can get much, much bigger depending on how big you draw the shape. In the game, the shapes are created using individual members of the Wonderful 101, which means if any of your members have been hit by enemies and passed out, the shape you draw won't be able to be big and therefore the weapon will be small. You can try drawing the shapes as often as you want, as long as your Unite Morph bar has enough power to draw the shape. The biggest version of each weapon takes all 100 members but is massive. And, no spoilers, but there's a point later in the game where you get 200 members, so the weapons size limit you can have is just enormous. It's really fantastic. Plus I love the game's QTEs (Quick Time Events), which happens when you have to draw one of the shapes in a few seconds or you die. This usually happens during bosses and at certain points in levels, and it's great.

The more current members in your group, the bigger you can draw
the shape for each weapon, and therefore the bigger it can be.
You can add more people to your group (mostly citizens) as you
go through each level.
In fact, you know what? It has been absolutely ages since I did a list, so I think I'm going to do a list of all the weapons you can use in the game, along with the users, abilities, and so on. Expect it in the next few days to weeks. Also, I haven't forgotten about that list I talked about doing with all the magic spells in Layton V Wright, I just haven't had time with Top Ten Turnabouts and I have a lot of other stuff to talk about. I will totally be doing it though. Soon.

I now remember why I love TW101. Add that to the long list of games I really feel like replaying right now.
